Wisconsin artist, illustrator, and author Sheri Jo Posselt brings a lifetime of creativity together through intuitive painting and her newly published fantasy novel, Make: Inside the Concrete Door.
Sheri Jo Posselt has spent her life telling stories—sometimes with words, sometimes with paint, and often through the space where imagination and intuition meet.
A Wisconsin-based professional artist, illustrator, and author, Sheri Jo works primarily in gouache, a richly pigmented medium with qualities similar to watercolor. Her portfolio moves freely between abstract compositions, natural landscapes, animals, portraits, and intuitive paintings. Although the subjects vary, each piece reflects her curiosity, sensitivity, and distinctive way of seeing the world.
Sheri Jo is a self-taught artist whose experience spans art, business, and design. In 1997, she established her studio, Sincere Harmony. Her work has since been featured on television, and she has served as a Business Painting Instructor for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
Painting through intuition
One of the most personal parts of Sheri Jo’s creative practice is intuitive painting. Rather than beginning with a rigid plan, she allows an image to emerge while the person connected to the painting watches. Sheri Jo describes the experience as “playing Pictionary with Angels”—a process of listening, responding, and translating impressions into color, shape, and imagery.
For Sheri Jo, intuition is not a replacement for skill. It is another creative language: one that asks the artist to remain present, trust what appears, and follow the work wherever it leads.

Opening The Concrete Door
In April 2026, Sheri Jo published Make: Inside the Concrete Door, the first book in her planned Make–Be–Leave trilogy. The illustrated fantasy novel introduces Sadie Rosemond, an artist and dreamer drawn through an impossible threshold into a world where belief, fear, love, and healing become deeply personal forces.
Sadie does not enter that world as a fearless hero. She carries questions, wounds, relationships, and a determined belief in beauty and the possibility of a better ending. Her journey asks what happens when the unseen struggles within us take visible form—and what we may need to remake within ourselves before we can find our way home.
The novel brings together many threads of Sheri Jo’s life and work: her visual imagination, spiritual inquiry, intuitive art, and the stories and poems she has written privately for years. Make is therefore more than a move from painting into authorship. It is a natural continuation of the creative voice she has been developing all along.
The author’s proclamation
At the heart of the series is Sheri Jo’s author’s proclamation:
“To complete a real fairytale, there are three key ingredients: making it, believing it, and leaving it.”
Those words form the foundation of the trilogy. Make opens the door. Be will continue the journey inward, exploring identity and the parts of ourselves we resist. Leave will return to ordinary reality and ask how hope, love, and belief survive beyond the fairy tale.
